– Wendi L. Dumbroff discusses the importance of mindfulness and self love –

Wendi L. Dumbroff, MA, LPC, was a recent guest on “Word of Mom” podcast where she was interviewed by Dori DecCarlo. In this episode, Dumbroff explained the importance of mindfulness and self love within relationships from the unique perspective of a therapist and a mother.

Dumbroff described what mindfulness is and how she implements it into her practice.

“Mindfulness is awareness in the moment,” stated Dumbroff. “It is being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and very importantly, of the body.”

To practice mindfulness in relationships, she guides her clients to:

“Pause and take a breath before reacting,” she elaborates, “When they take a pause and take a breath, right there, they begin to have choice. They get control of their emotions, versus their emotions having control over them.”

Dumbroff also explained how to honor self-love and find compassion from within.
