– Wendi L. Dumbroff Offers Advice to Quarantined Couples-

Wendi L. Dumbroff, MA, LPC, was recently featured in an article on WeddingWire, “7 Ways to Boost Your Relationship from Home”. In the article, Wendi discussed different ways couples can adjust to the new reality of being quarantined together and how they can take advantage of their new one-on-one time with each another.

People everywhere are constantly being reminded of news and updates about COVID-19 which can be a bit overwhelming. For this reason, Dumbroff suggests unplugging your devices, turning off the TV, and focusing your attention elsewhere for a while.

Dumbroff stated:

If you don’t have kids, or the kids are old enough to be home alone for a bit, take a walk together (keeping appropriate social distance from others you may pass when outdoors).

Dumbroff emphasized that it is okay to want some alone time especially since couples are around each other 24/7 amid quarantine. She noted that the taking time and space separate from each other could make a couple’s time together that much more meaningful.

If there are children that need tending to, you and your partner can agree on times when you will give each other a break. If it’s just the two of you, it’s still okay to ask for some quiet time on your own, or to be together working side by side but not talking.
